Our inner west electrician service areas, suburb by suburb
City of Maribyrnong
Yarraville
Known for its Victorian and Edwardian architecture, with the village shops on Anderson and Ballarat Streets. Supply comes from Jemena or Powercor, depending on the street.
Seddon
Mostly single-storey Victorian workers’ cottages and Edwardian terraces, centred on the Victoria Street shopping strip. The network locator lists Jemena only.
Footscray
More than half of Footscray’s homes were flats or apartments at the 2021 Census (52.3 per cent), alongside the market, the river and the railway station precinct.
West Footscray
Slow to develop despite 19th-century land speculation, it now has apartments in the converted Olympic Tyre factory, plus the Barkly Village shops.
Maribyrnong
Home to Highpoint Shopping Centre and Pipemakers Park, with an almost even three-way split of houses, townhouses and apartments in 2021.
City of Hobsons Bay
Williamstown
Surveyed in 1837, with heritage precincts including Cecil Street and Williamstown Beach, plus early basalt cottages.
Newport
Grew around the railway workshops from the mid-1880s, and the locator shows all three networks here: Jemena, Powercor and CitiPower.
Spotswood
Scienceworks now occupies the old sewerage pumping station, and some of the suburb’s housing land was not built on until the 1950s.
Altona
A bayside suburb with the heritage-listed Altona Pier, lower-density housing in the south-east and industry to the north-west. Powercor is the listed network.
Altona North
The Circle estate was subdivided in 1928 but stayed largely empty until the postwar years, and parts of its industrial land have been turning residential since 2018.
City of Brimbank (and neighbouring councils)
Brooklyn
Mostly industrial with a small residential pocket in the south, and split between Brimbank and Hobsons Bay councils.
Sunshine
Braybrook Junction became Sunshine in 1907, growing around H.V. McKay’s Sunshine Harvester Works. Heritage housing includes the Railway Station Estate near Morris and Wright Streets.
Sunshine West
Detached houses were 82.6 per cent of dwellings in 2021. Few blocks sold in the 1920s Glengala estate; the real growth came in the postwar years.
Albion
Shaped by workers’ housing estates, including the McKay Housing Estate in King Edward Avenue. Powercor is the only network listed for Albion.
Keilor
Gazetted in 1850 where the goldfields road crossed the Maribyrnong River, Keilor spans Brimbank and Hume, and 86.8 per cent of its dwellings were detached houses in 2021.
Taylors Lakes
Settled mainly through the 1970s and 1980s and largely developed by the mid-1990s, close to the Watergardens shopping centre and station.
Why we ask for your full address
Three electricity distributors operate across these suburbs: Jemena, Powercor and CitiPower. In many of them the network changes from one street to the next, and the distributor is involved in supply-side work such as mains and three phase upgrades. Your address tells us which network we are dealing with before we write the quote.
The housing changes just as much. A Williamstown cottage, a Footscray apartment and a 1990s Taylors Lakes home each raise different questions about switchboards, wiring access and where new lighting or power can go. The more you tell us about the property, the more useful the quote.

Is my suburb on your list?
If it is one of the 16 suburbs above, yes. If you are just outside them, mention your suburb in the enquiry and we will let you know.
Which network supplies my street?
It depends on the address. The CitiPower and Powercor postcode locator lists several of these suburbs against more than one distributor, so the suburb name alone will not tell you. Include your full address when you enquire about supply or switchboard work.
Do you work for small businesses as well as homes?
Yes. Alongside homes, we take on small commercial work, including lighting, power and data, for small businesses across these suburbs.
